Updated: Elkton woman flown to Nashville hospital following Parkway crash

An Elkton woman was flown to a Nashville hospital and two other people were injured following the rear-end collision Sunday night on the Pennyrile Parkway.

It happened just after 9 p.m. near the 10 mile-marker, with a collision report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department saying 63-year old James Scott of Newburgh, Indiana was southbound when his pickup was rear-ended by a car driven by 30-year old Heather Hendrix of Britmart Road, Elkton.

The Hendrix car went under the pickup, lifting the rear of it and turning it sideways. Scott’s truck went across the median and into the northbound lanes. Scott was able to exit and pulled his unconscious wife, 62-year old Cynthia Scott, from the vehicle.

Henrdix also lost consciousness after striking the windshield and her vehicle came to a stop a short distance south of the collision.

Hendrix was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, while James and Cynthia Scott were both taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart.

Hendrix was not wearing her seat belt and excessive speed is suspected as a factor, according to the report.
