Student arrested after taking gun to school in Clarksville

A student was arrested Friday morning at Clarksville Northwest High School after school resource officers discovered that he had allegedly brought a gun and ammunition to the building.

The 17-year old student was carrying an unloaded .380 semiautomatic pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition loaded in the magazine, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say the school administration notified the officer of the possibility of a gun on school grounds after several students expressed concerns.

Sheriff John Fuson is quoted as saying, “This should highlight how important it is to notify officials if you suspect something is wrong. If it is a behavior you see or a threat you hear, the information you share can resolve a situation.”

The student is being charged with felony weapons on school grounds.
