First Ferrell’s burger off new grill goes for $500

Christian County Judge-Executive Steve Tribble and Magistrate Darrell Gustafson are the winning bidders to receive the first burger off the grill at Ferrell’s Snappy Service during its ribbon-cutting Thursday.

They combined for a $500 bid, according to Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library Executive Director DeeAnna Sova, who says Judge Tribble and Squire Gustafson actually won’t be able to be there to take the first bites.

Judge Tribble’s designated eater will be his daughter, Leigh Darden of Planters Bank, while Doug Colburn will step in to eat on behalf of Squire Gustafson. Two other people had matched the $500 by Wednesday afternoon and a total of $1,650 had been raised through the promotion.

The money will help the local leadership class that has made its project to make renovations to the library’s patio.

Sova says the idea for the fundraiser came from Ferrell’s.

The Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting for Ferrell’s is set for 2 p.m. Thursday. Ferrell’s won’t reopen for business until Friday.  The iconic business has been closed since it was severely damaged by fire on the night of the 4th of July.
