The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library welcomed home a Hopkinsville native and accomplished percussionist Monday—Steve Gorman of the Black Crowes.
Gorman founded and played with the Black Crowes for many years and has now written a book about the experience called “Hard to Handle: The Life and Death of The Black Crowes.” He went to a book signing at the library, where people filled the room to meet with him. He says it’s always good to come back home to Hopkinsville and he’s eager to work professionally here now as well.
On February 28, his band Trigger Hippy will play at the Alhambra Theatre, which he says is very exciting for him, as he grew up watching movies at that iconic landmark.
He says the book focuses on what happened with the Black Crowes, but more importantly, it’s a book about people, life and what takes place within it.
The memoir is a first-hand account of the band’s rise to stardom and then their eventual fall—of which Gorman says he’s unfortunately good memory has helped him write. Gorman says he’s also excited to have another burger from Ferrell’s Snappy Service—as soon as they reopen later this week.
