Princeton collision causes fire, power outage

A wreck in Princeton Thursday caused a fire that did damage to vehicles and buildings in a parking lot on East Main Street.

According to the Princeton Police Department, a delivery truck driven by 35-year old Casey Riggs of Benton was attempting to leave the lot when the vehicle caught on low hanging utility lines. That caused a transformer pole to break and collapse onto a nearby parked vehicle.

An occupant in the vehicle, 27-year old Austin Phelps of Princeton, was able to escape the vehicle before the transformer burst into flames.

Damage was done to another vehicle as well, along with nearby buildings, and power was out in the area for approximately an hour.
