Light snow overnight has caused poor road conditions this morning.
Christian, Trigg, Todd, Caldwell, Muhlenberg, Hopkins and Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools are closed today after the area saw anywhere from a dusting to an inch of snow. Heritage Christian Academy and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School are also closed and Dawson Springs Independent Schools are operating on a two-hour delay.
Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Vanderkolk says there have been multiple accidents on I-24.
All lanes of I-24 in Christian County have since reopened.
One person was injured in a weather-related accident early this morning on the Pennyrile Parkway at the Eagle Way Bypass overpass.
Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner reported roads there ice and snow-covered and Trigg County Dispatch reported accidents on I-24.
Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Tony Sierra said city streets hadn’t had many issues with accidents as of the early morning hours, but that could change with temperatures in the upper 20’s.
Light snow has continued at times this morning and a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m.
Anyone who has to get out this morning should allow additional time and use abundant caution on area roads.
