Representatives of Sanctuary, Inc. will be at three area Kroger stores Saturday collecting much-needed supplies as part of their annual Shop and Share event.
Jessica Meredith is the director of grants management for Sanctuary and says it’s the Saturday before the Super Bowl, knowing many people will already be out shopping for the big game.
They will be set up at the Kroger stores in Hopkinsville, Powderly and Madisonville from 9 until 5 Saturday and Meredith says they just ask anyone who can to pick up supplies that residents of the Sanctuary domestic violence shelter can use—such as housekeeping, personal care items and non-perishable food.
Statistics show that over one-third of women in Kentucky will report abuse in their lifetime and many of those victims will temporarily turn to a shelter such as Sanctuary for a safe place to stay.
