The Cincinnati Reds revealed Tuesday All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez has undergone surgery to remove loose right shoulder cartilage. Suarez injured his shoulder in a swimming pool accident at his home in Pinecrest, Florida about a week ago. HIs arm will be in a sling for three-to-five days and he will be limited early in spring training.
The Reds anticipate he will be able to play early in the season, but is questionable for the March 26th season opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.
