Local barbed wire artist hosting event to celebrate talented youth

A well-known barbed wire artist who is a resident of Cadiz but originally of Jamaica, is hosting an awards ceremony Thursday evening to celebrate local talented youth.

Appearing on WHOP Wednesday, Sean Wallace says the contest—which is meant to encourage local students to pursue their love of art—has only continued to grow since its inception.

He says it’s about showing these youth that anything can be art, and that is doesn’t matter your background or your past, with enough passion and will you can make your future what you want it to be.

The Encouraging Art Awards takes place Thursday starting at 6 p.m. in the Hopkinsville Community College gallery and auditorium.  He’s had pieces of his own art work on display at HCC throughout the month of January and attendees will be able to view it and the students work at the event.

Tickets to win an art piece by Wallace are $5 each or 5 for $20 and Wallace says the money raised will go back into the community to help kids. For more information on the event, call 270-881-6442.
