Former NHL goalie Belfour arrested early today in Bowling Green

Former NHL goaltender Ed Belfour, known as “Eddie the Eagle” in his playing days, was arrested in Bowling Green early this morning. According to a Bowling Green police report provided to the Bowling Green Daily News, the 54-year-old Belfour was arrested just before 1:30 at the Kentucky Grand Hotel and Spa on charges of third-degree criminal mischief and alcohol intoxication in a public place, according to the citation.

Belfour, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, is widely considered one of the best goalies in NHL history. He is fourth all-time in wins among NHL goalies and won a Stanley Cup in 1999 with the Dallas Stars and an Olympic gold medal in 2002 as a member of the Canadian national team. According to a Facebook post, Belfour is now part of a company known as Belfour Spirits.
