Man arrested after shots fired incident

A man was arrested following a shots fired incident Saturday night on McLean Avenue.

Hopkinsville police say 62-year old Timothy McWilliams of Hopkinsville was watching a basketball game at a home in the 400 block of McLean when he became angry with the resident of the home.

McWilliams reportedly flipped a table in the living room when he became angry over the outcome of the contest. An altercation ensued and the homeowner reportedly asked McWilliams to leave. An arrest citation says that’s when he retrieved a gun from his vehicle and fired a shot toward the resident.

No one was struck by the gunfire, but McWilliams was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Police say McWilliams was manifestly under the influence of alcohol at the time of his arrest.

He had to be checked out at Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries sustained in the altercation with the homeowner and police say he screamed obscenities in the emergency room and urinated on the floor of the room where he was being evaluated.
