Body found in Cumberland River thought to be missing teen

A body was found Sunday morning in the Cumberland River in Montgomery County and officials believe it to be a teenager who was reported missing in December.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department says a fisherman dialed 911 just before noon to report a body near the shoreline in the area of Lock B South in the Cumberland River.

Based on preliminary investigation, deputies believe the body to be 19-year old Zach Marsh, but the body is being sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and to determine a cause of death.

Marsh’s vehicle was found abandoned December 20 on Jarrell Bridge Road, approximately five miles upstream from where the body was located.

Officials say it is an open investigation and no other information is being released.
