The Atlanta Braves are adding another outfield bat for 2020. They’ve agreed to a one-year, 18-million-dollar deal with Marcell Ozuna. The 29-year-old spent the last two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. Ozuna hit a career-low .241 last season, but did slug 29 home runs.
The Chicago Cubs are adding another arm to their bullpen. Chicago acquired right-hander Travis Lakins from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for either a player to be named or cash considerations. Lakins appeared in 16 games for Red Sox last season, posting a 3.86 ERA with 18 strikeouts and 10 walks in 23-and-a-third innings.
Former New York Yankee Derek Jeter and Larry Walker are entering the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Jeter was just one vote shy of becoming the second unanimously-elected member of the Hall. Jeter had a career .310 batting average, notched 34-hundred and 65 hits, knocked in 13-hundred and eleven RBIs and won five World Series with the Yankees.
Over his 17-year MLB career, Walker was the National League MVP in 1997, a seven-time Gold Glover, a five-time All-Star, and a three-time NL batting champ. He played for the Colorado Rockies and also played for the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004.
