Downburst with 100 mph winds caused north Hopkinsville damage

A downburst with straight-line winds of 100 mph caused damage on the north side of Hopkinsville Saturday morning.

A survey team from the National Weather Service in Paducah determined the downburst caused a 1.6 mile long path of damage on Hopkinsville’s north side.

Approximately 125 homes had some damage—mostly to roofs and siding. At least one home was severely damaged by a falling tree.

There was severe damage to fences, dugouts, trees and lights at Ruff Park.

The damage happened between 7:35 and 7:40 a.m. Saturday.

Additional survey reports are pending on other damage in Christian County.

No one was injured in any of the storms.
