A woman accused of stealing cash from her former employer was arrested Monday by Hopkinsville police.
The alleged incident happened last year when 37-year old Heather Elegbede of Hopkinsville was the assistant manager at the Max’s Café on West Seventh Street. A police report says she was supposed to make a deposit of $3,898.50 on November 16, but the actual deposit was a thousand dollars less.
Administrators were able to determine there was no error at the bank and Elegbede told police she didn’t know what happened to the money, but that she didn’t take it.
She is charged with felony theft.
