Sinking Fork student dies from Dec. 23 accident injuries

A student at Sinking Fork Elementary School has died from injuries sustained in a head-on collision two days before Christmas on Princeton Road.

The school issued a statement on Facebook Tuesday morning, saying sixth-grader Alexia Trump will be missed greatly.

Trump was a passenger in a truck driven by her mother, 32-year old Misty Quarles of Cerulean, who was headed north when a car entered her lane of travel and the collision ensued.

The truck then went over a bridge and onto a creek bed. Trump, Misty Quarles, 34-year old Marcus Quarles and another juvenile were all taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The driver of the car, 35-year old Robert Jackson of Marion, was also injured and taken to an area hospital.

Officials at Sinking Fork Elementary say a memorial service is being planned by the family for a later date.
