An Oldham County Grand Jury has indicted Dayton Jones on felony counts for alleged actions at the prison in La Grange.
Officials at the Oldham Circuit Court Clerk’s Office confirm Jones was indicted for promoting contraband and for being a persistent felony offender in the second-degree.
The indictment alleges Jones introduced or possessed dangerous contraband inside the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex, where he was an inmate before former Governor Matt Bevin commuted his sentence to time served in December.
The Courier Journal quotes the Oldham County commonwealth’s attorney as saying Jones was caught with Suboxone in September and that lab results confirming the substance didn’t come back until December 30.
Jones had been serving time for his role in the sexual assault of a 15-year old male at a party on Lafayette Road in November of 2014.
Jones had not yet been arrested on the indictment, as of noon local time Friday.
WHOP News has also learned that one of Jones’ co-defendants in the sexual assault case, 24-year old Tyler Perry, was indicted last week by a Muhlenberg County Grand Jury for first-degree promoting contraband and for being a persistent felony offender in the second-degree.
Muhlenberg County Commonwealth’s Attorney Ralph Vick says Perry was one of about 20 inmates found to have Suboxone while incarcerated in the Green River Correctional Complex in February of last year. The delay in obtaining an indictment against Perry was at least partly due to the amount of time it took to get test results back on the substance, according to Vick.
Perry will be arraigned Monday in Muhlenberg Circuit Court. Vick says Perry is currently lodged in the Lee Adjustment Center in Beattyville.
Perry pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in 2016 as part of a deal that came with a 10-year sentence.
