The filing deadline for both state offices and local offices came at 4 p.m. Friday and saw a few more filings to run for Hopkinsville City Council.
In Ward 1, incumbent Democrat Darvin Adams filed to seek re-election, while in Natasha Francis filed as a Republican to seek that seat. Democrat Alethea West filed to run in Ward 3, which is currently held by Democrat Don Ahart, who has filed to seek re-election. Bradley Garabrandt has filed to run in Ward 4 as an independent.
Former city council member Richard Convington filed as a Republican to seek the Ward 7 seat, and in Ward 10, Steve Keel filed to run as a Republican.
Shannon Worden, who had been a candidate in Ward 6, filed his paperwork to withdraw from the race Friday.
With the filing period closed, this means that there will be a primary election in wards 1, 3, 6, 7, 9, and 10 to see who will go on to face off in the general election. Two wards are uncontested, and that’s Ward 2 incumbent Kim McCarley and Ward 5 incumbent Amy Craig.
