Western Kentucky and surrounding areas are under a slight risk for severe weather late Friday night and early Saturday morning, along with other weather alerts.
All of western Kentucky is under a wind advisory from 9 p.m. Friday night until 9 p.m. Saturday, with wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour possible even outside of any thunderstorms. Sean Poulos with the National Weather Service in Paducah says the area will have a slight risk of severe weather Friday night and Saturday morning, and while the main concern is damaging winds, a few spin-up tornadoes can’t be ruled out.
While Christian County is expected to get 1 to 2 inches of rain, with isolated higher amounts possible, Trigg, Caldwell and Hopkins Counties are under a flash flood watch from 6 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday. The Christian County area can expect the heaviest rain and thunderstorms to move into the area around 6 a.m. Saturday.
