Princeton PD: Woman stabbed husband, charged with murder

A Princeton woman is facing charges of murder after she allegedly stabbed her estranged husband on Ratcliff Street Wednesday morning.

According to the Princeton Police Department, officers responded to reports of a stabbing around 6 a.m. in the 100 block of Ratcliff Street and discovered 43-year old Matt Smothers of Princeton with a stab wound to his leg.

He reportedly told officers his estranged wife, 42-year old Kimberly Smothers of Princeton, had arrived to the residence and they had gotten into a verbal argument when she allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed him.  Matt Smothers was taken to a local hospital, where he would die of his injuries.

Kimberly Smothers was arrested later in the day and charged with murder.
