Peter Laviolette has been fired as head coach of the Nashville Predators. The team made the announcement yesterday after their tough shootout loss in Anaheim on Sunday. Laviolette had been with Nashville since 2014 and the Preds made the playoffs in each of his first five seasons, winning a Presidents’ Trophy, two division titles and the 2016-17 Western Conference title. Associate coach Kevin McCarthy was also fired. The Predators are to announce an interim coach at a news conference this morning.
On the ice, the Predators welcome the Boston Bruins this evening. Nashville has lost four of its last five games. First puck drops at 7 in Bridgestone Arena.
