Six displaced by Walnut Street fire

Fire displaced the occupants of five apartments in one large house on Walnut Street Tuesday morning.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Michael Pendleton says six adults, one dog and two cats inside 1712 Walnut were able to safely evacuate.

Electricity to the structure had to be cut off and the Red Cross was called in to assist the displaced residents.

Captain Pendleton says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
