Two arrested for burglary, meth possession

Two Nortonville residents were arrested Sunday morning on burglary and methamphetamine possession charges.

Hopkinsville police were called to a shoplifting complaint at the West Seventh Street Dollar General just before 11:30 a.m. and made contact with 40-year old Calvin Long and 29-year old Rachel Sweeney of Nortonville.

An arrest citation says Sweeney showed police the items she intended on shoplifting and that both suspects had razor blades in their possession that they intended to use to remove tags and packaging from merchandise.

A search of their vehicle allegedly revealed two small baggies of meth and a meth pipe.

Both suspects were charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
