An investigation Sunday by police in Elkton led to the arrests of three suspects on burglary and drug trafficking charges.
Elkton Police Officer Jakop Smith and Todd County Sheriff’s Deputy David Hutcheson were investigating the report of a suspicious person at 108 Duke Street and located a car in the driveway of the uninhabited home.
The property owner gave police permission to make forced entry and three individuals identified as Cassidy Herd of Elkton, Steven Stewart of Clarksville and Casey Nichols of Morristown, Tennessee were located inside.
Police say a substantial amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also located and that Stewart was in possession of a gun.
All three suspects were arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, trafficking in meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.
Stewart was charged with an additional count of possession of a controlled substance.
Elkton Officer John Webb assisted in the investigation.
