Two incumbents for Hopkinsville City Council filed their paperwork to seek re-election Monday and another withdrew from candidacy.
According to the Christian County Clerk’s Office, Ward 7 Democrat Terry Parker, Ward 8 Republican Tom Johnson, and Ward 12 incumbent Democrat Phillip Brooks all filed to seek re-election to those seats. Parker has served on council since 2015 and in multiple capacities including, positions on the Emergency Communications Center Board, the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, Hopkinsville Electric System Board and Chairman of the Committee of the Whole.
Johnson is in his first term to that seat and serves on the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority Board, Christian County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee Advisory Board, Hopkinsville/Christian County Airport Board, and Pennyrile Solid Waste Management Authority.
Brooks has served on council from 1992 through 2006 and again since 2009. He currently serves as Vice Chair for the Committee of the Whole and is a member of the Long Range Planning and Coordination Committee
Caratha Z. Buckner filed her paperwork to withdraw from the race for Ward 9. The filing deadline is Friday.
