Baptist Health Madisonville imposes visitation restrictions for flu season

Flu activity in the region continues to increase and Baptist Health in Madisonville is placing restrictions on visitation at that hospital.

An email says visitors will be restricted to those determined to be immediate family or significantly participating in the support of the hospitalized patient. There will be no visitors allowed with respiratory infections or flu-like symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat, chills, body aches, and runny nose.

There will be no visitors ages 15 and under, but siblings of newborns will be allowed if  they haven’t had a fever in the past 24 hours, they have no current cold or flu symptoms and if they wash their hands and wear a mask.

Hospital officials say exceptions to the restrictions may be made for critically ill or end-of-life situations.

Any patients with flu-like symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.
