Two 1st Region coaches arrested on charges

West Kentucky Star.com reports Marshall County girls basketball coach Dan Langhi was arrested New Year’s Day on DUI and speeding charges. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office says Langhi was pulled over for speeding around 7:20 am. Deputies say Langhi was driving 98 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone. Upon making contact with Langhi, deputies said they smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage, and Langhi’s eyes were not tracking smoothly. Langhi reportedly refused to submit to a blood test. Langhi was lodged in the Marshall County Jail. Marshall County Superintendent Trent Lovett was to meet with Langhi today to discuss his future.

Meanwhile, West Kentucky Star.com also reports St. Mary boys coach Wes Overstreet has resigned his position after being arrested on DUI charges last Saturday morning in Carbondale, IL. Witnesses say he hit a light pole and a parked car with his vehicle. He faces charges of DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Assistant coach Chase Denson has taken over the program. Overstreet was in his first year as coach at St. Mary and took over for his father, Greg, who left to become boys coach at Paducah Tilghman after 16 years at St. Mary last spring.
