Pam Dossett files to run for district 8 state representative

A Hopkinsville teacher has made it official and filed her paperwork to run for state representative in district 8 as a democrat.

According to a news release, Pam Dossett filed her paperwork with the Secretary of State’s Office Thursday to seek the seat currently held by Representative Walker Thomas, who has filed to seek re-election. Dossett has been a Hopkinsville elementary school teacher for nearly 18 years.  Since 2015, she has taught both second and fifth grades at Sinking Fork Elementary, and currently serves on the Hopkinsville High School Site Based Decision Making Council.  Before that, she worked as a second, fourth and fifth grade teacher at Holiday Elementary and Highland Elementary schools.

She says, “The last few years haven’t been easy for teachers or our public schools, but at the same time, this adversity has shown us just how strong we actually are and what we can achieve when we’re united. I’m proud to be part of that effort and am eager to build on that work as a legislator.  When our schools succeed, all of Kentucky succeeds.”

She continues, “To me, the 8th House District symbolizes Kentucky better than any other in the state. I’m proud of all that we have achieved, but I am convinced even better days lie ahead.  I’m running to help make that dream possible.”
