Local United Way needs help reaching goal in final push of campaign

The United Way of the Pennyrile is putting out a call for final donations to their annual fundraising campaign as its wrapping up, and they are currently short of their goal.

Executive Director Annie Catron says they’ve been pushing hard here at the end of the campaign, which officially close in the next couple of weeks, but at the moment they are going to fall short.

The goal is $906,000 but right now they’re sitting at about $720,000 of that—she says any little bit can help.

Catron says the closure of Ebonite undoubtedly impacted their fundraising, and the United Way hopes that those 171 workers affected by the abrupt closing are able to find new work. She says if you want to make a donation, you can contact them through their social media pages and or stop by the office at 1110 South Main Street.

Co-Chair Dustin Gilbert and Robin Tabor have been working hard, Catron says, and this year’s celebration dinner will be February 27 at the Silo Event Center.  This year’s theme has a Las Vegas theme, emphasizing that what’s raised in the community stays in the community.

The United Way serves Christian, Todd, Trigg and Caldwell Counties with over 20 partner agencies.
