Two democrats file to run for U.S. Senate

Two democrats have made it official that they will run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Mitch McConnell in 2020.

Amy McGrath filed her paperwork on Friday to seek the seat, and while she has many opponents in the primary, at this point she is considered the front runner.  McGrath, an Armed Forces veteran, ran an unsuccessful campaign for Kentucky’s 6th District Congressional seat against U.S. Representative Andy Barr in 2018.

Also filing as a democrat for the race is Mike Broihier of Stanford, KY.  He joins the ever growing list of both democrats and republicans vying for a chance to unseat Mitch McConnell.  The deadline is fast approaching, so more people could file soon.
