Fatigue is listed as a factor in a collision on West Seventh Street early Saturday morning that sent a Hopkinsville woman to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, a vehicle operated by 51-year old Melody Shilling of Hopkinsville was heading east on West Seventh when she reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel. The vehicle collided with a utility pole on the south side of the roadway, and then continued down the sidewalk and into a front yard of a residence.
It then crossed Bell Street, hit a stop sign, and then struck a tree in the 800 block of West Seventh before coming to a stop. Shilling, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Jennie Stuart for treatment of head injuries.
