First District Kentucky Congressman James Comer will seek re-election in 2020, as he filed his papers to run Friday with the Secretary of State.
The Republican incumbent has served in that capacity since 2016, taking the place of longtime Congressman Ed Whitfield. At this moment, Comer has no opposition for the race, but the filing deadline for that office is January 28.
There had been rumors earlier this year that Comer would once again run for Governor in Kentucky against now former Governor Matt Bevin, but Comer shut those down. This filing solidifies that he intends to try and stay in the House of Representatives.
