Two Morganfield residents charged following traffic stop

Two Morganfield residents are facing numerous charges, following a traffic stop Wednesday in Lyon County.

According to a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was on patrol on KY 93 when he attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle with an alleged registration violation.  The vehicle continued onto KY 730 West briefly before coming to a stop.

Investigation determined that the driver, 49-year old Ronart Wedding of Morganfield was reportedly operating a vehicle with a ‘cancelled’ registration plate and without a valid driver’s license.  A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a counterfeit $100.

A female passenger, 38-year old Beri Sheely of Morganfield, who had been dropped off just prior to the traffic stop was located and also charged, after more counterfeit money was allegedly found in her possession.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a legend drug, criminal possession of a forged instrument currency and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Wedding is additionally charged with several traffic violations.
