Woman arrested for assault, wanton endangerment

A disturbance on Talbert Drive late Monday night led to the arrest of a woman who allegedly assaulted her mother and sister.

Hopkinsville Police Officer Lori Kryszewski arrived at the apartment in the 100 block of Talbert about 11:30 p.m. and heard yelling inside.

She separated 19-year old Candace Johnson of Hopkinsville from the other individuals involved, but Johnson reportedly refused to answer questions and became combative.

Further investigation determined Johnson had allegedly punched her mother and struck her sister while her sister was holding Johnson’s 23-month old child. The victims said Johnson also pulled a knife during the altercation, causing them to fear for their lives.

An arrest citation says Johnson threatened to kick the officer in the face if she searched her and later told Officer Kryszewski that “I got you.”

Johnson was arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, menacing and criminal mischief.
