Hopkinsville man arrested for strangulation, assault charges

An investigation by Hopkinsville police on Moseley Drive Sunday morning led to the arrest of a man on multiple felony charges.

Officers arrived at a home in the 1700 block of Moseley about 6 a.m. and a female victim said 27-year old Alex Settles of Hopkinsville had hit and kicked her, choked her and pressed her head against the floor.

The victim said Settles hid two guns prior to police arrival, which were later found.

The search for the gun also turned up a bag of synthetic marijuana in a trash can and a digital scale.

Settles was arrested for first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault, trafficking in synthetic drugs, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
