Investigation by the Todd County Sheriff’s Department early Friday morning led to the arrest of two men on drug trafficking charges.
Deputy B.J. Grayson stopped a vehicle on US 68 driven by 28-year old Robert Sargent of Elkton for traffic violations and smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to an arrest citation.
A passenger, 23-year old Travis Goodin of Elkton, was reportedly observed reaching into the floorboard.
A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, three hydrocodone pills and digital scales.
Police say Sargent had a handgun and psychedelic mushrooms on his person and that he claimed ownership of the marijuana.
Both suspects denied ownership of the methamphetamine.
Goodin and Sargent were arrested for trafficking in meth and opiates and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sargent was additionally charged with trafficking in marijuana disregarding a stop sign and careless driving.
