The Danville Advocate-Messenger reports long time Boyle County football coach Chuck Smith announced his retirement today. Smith had served in his second stint for the Rebels since 2014. This year’s team went 14-1 before losing to Johnson Central 21-20 in the Class 4-A final. During his first stint with the Rebels, Smith’s teams won five state titles from 1999-2003 and finished runner-up in 2004. Smith also worked as an assistant coach at the University of Kentucky.
