With Christmas fast approaching, officials with the Hopkinsville-Christian County Imagination Library are encouraging parents and guardians to give the gift of reading this year.
Coordinator Sarah Hardison says people often sign their child or grandchild up for the program, which provides an age appropriate book to children from birth to five years of age, in an effort to encourage early literacy. Hardison says their partnership with Comfort Suites also continues, where those who book a room there also help pay for a book that will go to a child in the community.
In exchange, the Imagination Library will provide a reading area in the Comfort Suites lobby for all guests to enjoy. Traveling families are encouraged to utilize this area and freely take books to and from their rooms throughout their stay.
She says that the program can work with you if you change addresses while a part of the program, so don’t let a potential move keep you from signing up.
Hardison says they accept sign ups and donations always, and those interested can contact the program by calling the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library at 270-887-4262.
