Mitch McConnell files for re-election

It comes as no surprise that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is running for re-election to the United States Senate.

The Kentucky Republican officially filed as a candidate Friday with the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office.  McConnell says serving the people of the Commonwealth is the honor of his lifetime—McConnell was first elected to the Senate in 1984.

McConnell will likely face the winner of a Democratic primary in the November General Election.
