A Hopkinsville man was arrested on several charges following a vehicle pursuit Thursday afternoon.
Hopkinsville police attempted to stop 39-year old Gary Douthitt for a seat belt violation in the area of West First Street and McPherson Avenue, but an arrest citation says Douthitt kept driving.
He made several turns, going from North Drive to Sanderson and eventually came to a stop near North Main Street and the Bypass. Police say he was unable to maintain his lane and tossed a plastic baggie out of the window during the pursuit.
A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a large amount of methamphetamine and several syringes.
Douthitt was arrested on charges of fleeing or evading police, DUI, trafficking in meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open alcohol container, tampering with evidence and resisting arrest.
