Christian County defeats Hopkinsville in district opener for both teams Friday night

Christian County defeated Hopkinsville in the first meeting of the season between the teams 71-61. The Colonels led by as many as 22 points in the second half. Christian County had three players in double figures led by Stephan Bussell with 23 points, Damikeon Mathis added 15 and Qua Chambers pitched in 11 as the Colonels improved to 2-3 and 1-0 in the district.

Hopkinsville was led by Don Victor with 26 points. The senior was 14-17 from the free throw line and didn’t score his first field goal until 6:00 left in the game when he hit a three pointer. It was one of four Victor hit in the fourth period. Daisjuan Mercer added 11 points for the Tigers who are now 2-3 and 0-1 in district play.
