Hopkinsville Christmas parade is Saturday evening

The Hopkinsville Christmas parade will once again take over streets downtown on Saturday evening, and the public is invited to join in the holiday fun.

Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman and Coordinator Toby Hudson recently appeared on WHOP News and invited everyone to come downtown Saturday at 5:15 p.m. to watch the parade.  Hudson reminds entrants they need to sign in at Ruff Park at least between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m.

They says this year’s parade is one of the longest they’ve had, and it also includes the new golf cart division.

The grand marshal of the parade is Hopkinsville Community College President Dr. Alissa Young and the theme is “What Christmas Teaches Us.” Cash prizes will be awarded for the HES-Energy Net Hopkinsville Christmas Parade Grand Champion Float, Runner-Up, Christian County Chamber of Commerce Best Business and the People’s Choice Award.

There will be road closures with the event, including Glass Avenue, all side streets on Glass Avenue from North Drive to Main Street, side streets on Main Street from Glass Avenue to 14th Street. There will be no parking on Main Street from Glass Avenue to 14th Street from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
