A Manitou man was arrested Wednesday by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department in connection to an assault and kidnapping that occurred in Madisonville on Saturday.
According to a news release, Hopkins County deputies responded to a location in Madisonville on Saturday where a victim was able to escape from an alleged assaulter, 43-year old Jason Attebury of Manitou. He allegedly had held the victim against their will.
Investigation determined that the incident occurred at a Beeny Lane residence in Manitou, where Attebury resides. A search of the building reportedly revealed evidence that an assault had occurred there and Attebury was taken into custody Wednesday.
He’s charged with second-degree assault domestic violence, first-degree wanton endangerment, kidnapping of an adult, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, terroristic threatening and operating on a suspended license.
