The New York Yankees are shelling out big bucks for starting pitcher Gerrit Cole. Multiple reports say the two sides have agreed to a nine-year, 324-million-dollar contract. It eclipses the seven-year, 245-million-dollar pact the Nationals gave Stephen Strasburg, which was a record for a pitcher. Cole was the AL Cy Young runner-up this year for the Houston Astros.
The Philadelphia Phillies are bringing in Didi Gregorius to play shortstop. Philadelphia has agreed to a one-year deal with the former Yankees infielder worth 14-million-dollars. Gregorius, who turns 30 in February, returned from Tommy John surgery in June and finished the season hitting .238 with 16 homers and 61 RBI in 82 games.
