A Hopkinsville man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly assaulted his wife Monday afternoon.
According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, officers responded to a Charlie Court residence in response to a 911 hang up where the female victim called asking for police. Her husband, 57-year old Robert Moorefield of Hopkinsville, allegedly became physical during an argument with her and struck her with his fists. He also reportedly slammed her onto the concrete floor, causing a laceration to the back of her head.
He then allegedly forced her into a bathroom after she attempted to leave and then into a bathtub, and reportedly admitted to breaking the phone after the victim called police. When officers arrived, they couldn’t hear anything but the victim began screaming for help after they knocked on the door. Entry was made into the residence, where officers found Moorefield in the hallway and the victim bleeding in the bathtub.
Moorefield was apparently belligerent after being taken into custody, screaming at officers and at other citizens. He reportedly said he was ‘methed out’.
Moorefield is charged with second-degree assault domestic violence and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
