Montgomery County deputy’s vehicle stolen during traffic stop, suspect arrested

The cruiser of a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy was stolen during a traffic stop Monday morning.

Sgt. Daniel Gagnon conducted a traffic stop at approximately 9:53 a.m. at the intersection of Sango Drive and Sango Road due to a window tint violation, according to a news release, which says Sgt. Gagnon and Andrew Timmerman began fighting and a foot pursuit ensued.

At 9:59 a.m. Timmerman got into the deputy’s vehicle and headed east on Interstate 24. While attempting to avoid tire deflation devices, Timmerman went off the road and into a ditch on Bearwallow Road in Ashland City, Cheatham County. He was quickly taken into custody at approximately 10:23 a.m. He was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol provided a helicopter and the GPS system installed in all cruisers was used to monitor the location of the vehicle.  A Cheatham County Law Enforcement Officer was injured during the pursuit while attempting to deploy a tire deflation device and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.  Sgt. Gagnon was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
