Library adds career help section to website

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library has created a new career help section on its website.

Outreach Librarian Elysa Parks says in a news release, “Finding a job and improving career skills can be a daunting task. We wanted to create a one-stop shop for building a resume, studying for high school equivalency and/or career exams, and improving professional skills.”

Library officials say the page features eight databases, including ‘Career Center’ where you can prepare for professional exams and learn important information about a particular profession and ‘Computer Skills’ where you can watch videos to learn computer skills from basics to word processing, spreadsheets, and more.

The recent closure of Ebonite played a role in creation of the new page, according to Executive Director DeAnna Sova, who says, “The recent closure of one of Hopkinsville’s oldest employers inspired the library staff to find a way to provide career assistance to the community.  These databases are not new to HCCPL, but unless you are specifically looking for employment aids, the general public may not know the information is available at their fingertips.”
