Jeffers’ Bend Environmental Center brought in the Christmas season with activities full of cheer and spirit Saturday, as hundreds of families visited for Christmas at the Bend.
Children were able to speak with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus about what they’re hoping for this Christmas, and spend time making crafts and eating snacks. Charles Turner with the Jeffers’ Bend Steering Committee says he was happy with the turnout.
He says the most important event of the day was the creation of Christmas cards for the residents of nursing homes across the city—he says the residents are always happy to see what the kids write to them.
All proceeds raised from the event go back into taking care of the environmental center. In a special presentation Saturday, Jeffers’ Bend unveiled their new utility vehicle that will help them complete maintenance, respond quickly to emergencies and help keep people safe, and other functions. The utility vehicle is funded by the Kentucky Colonels organization and H&R Agri-Power, on behalf of the center.
