Covington Catholic tight end/linebacker Michael Mayer has been named as Kentucky’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year. Mayer-who has committed to Notre Dame-leads the 14-0 Colonels into the Class 5-A Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl championship game tomorrow night against Frederick Douglass at 7 pm Hopkinsville time at Kroger Field.
