Murray State coach Matt McMahon announced before last night’s 71-69 loss at Missouri State that freshman Chico Carter, Jr. will be sidelined indefinitely. In a statement, McMahon said Carter suffered a broken bone in his hand during last week’s Gulf Coast Classic.
A Murray State spokesman tells WHOP Carter is expected back before the end of the season. The Racers welcome Middle Tennessee to the CFSB Center Saturday night.

For the third straight week, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is a nominee for Fed Ex Ground Player of the Week. Henry rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown in last Sunday’s win at Indianapolis. He also eclipsed 1,000 yards for the second straight season. Fan voting continues online through tomorrow.
The Titans announced today they have claimed defensive back Tramaine Brock off waivers. The 10-year veteran recently played with the Arizona Cardinals. Brock recorded 37 tackles and three passes defensed in 10 games, with seven starts, with the Cardinals. He played for the Denver Broncos in 2018 and the Minnesota Vikings in 2017 after playing from 2010-2016 with the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite his season being over due to a recurring ankle injury, Titans tight end Delanie Walker says his career is not over. Speaking to titansonline.com last night at a pizza party and shopping spree for Nashville area children, Walker said he wanted to get his injury repaired and return for the final year of his contract in 2020.

The NHL has fined Nashville Predators forward Ryan Johansen $5,000 for elbowing Tampa Bay forward Brayden Point during the Lightning’s 3-2 overtime win last night in Nashville. Johansen elbowed Point at 9:07 of the second period and was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct. The Predators welcome the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

ESPN is reporting the Atlanta Braves have signed pitcher Cole Hamels to a one-year contract. The deal is worth a reported $18 million. Hamels battled injury while with the Chicago Cubs last season. He went 7-7 with 143 strikeouts with a 3.81 ERA.

Louisville area native Justin Thomas is in the field for the PGA Tour’s Hero World Challenge, which is underway today in the Bahamas. The event runs through Saturday.
